Each September, the annual Rendezvous Royal in Cody, Wyoming, celebrates the arts. This year, the festivities will happen during the third week, September 16 to 21, with one of the most anticipated events being the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale with a live auction on September 20. During the show more than 100 artists will have paintings or sculpture on view.
Saturday morning, September 21, will be the much-anticipated quick draw, where around 40 of the 100 participants paint for an hour-and-a-half on the Robbe Powwow grounds. During the painting, collectors and visitors can watch the artists at work and discuss how they are creating their piece as it is being done.
Other must-attend events include workshops, artist demonstrations and the Lunch & Lecture on September 19 at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. According to the event, this year’s lecture, “In collaboration with Wyoming’s celebration of the 150th anniversary of women’s right to vote, a gathering of seasoned patrons of the arts will have a conversation about their own involvement in the arts by discussing their careers and personal life and how it shaped who they are today.” New this year, By Western Hands will host its Invitational Design Exhibition featuring one-of-a-kind pieces of Western functional art.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting for the exhibition of the works that will be sold in September is August 22.
