Annual fall show
Each September, Insight Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas, hosts its annual Fall Group Show to kick off the season of new exhibitions. The show will include work by all 60 of its gallery artists, with Michael Ome Untiedt named the 2019 featured artist. According to the gallery, “Untiedt’s work, its expressive colors, expressionistic brushworks and metaphoric imagery, tell a wonderful story. In his painting he attempts to explain his deep connections to the Western landscape using the color, brushstrokes and symbolic subject matter of the paintings.”
On view in the exhibition will be several works by Untiedt, including two bucking bronco studies: Study, The Header and Study, The Healer. The paintings show the horse and rider
in the desert, the rider with his lasso in hand.
Also included in the show will be pieces by Phil Bob Borman, Jeremy Browne, Mary Ross Buchholz, Leslie Duke, George Hallmark, Mark Haworth, Kyle Ma, Clive Tyler and Jie Wei Zhou, to name a few.
Robert Pummill’s Sunset on a Rocky Slope is one of the landscapes featured in the show. The painting depicts the hallmark subject of the artist’s oeuvre: Texas bluebonnets. Of his work, the gallery says, “Pummill’s use of light coming through the trees and into the fields of Texas wildflowers has become one of the things he is best known for. Although there is endless inspiration in the Texas Hill Country each spring, with flowers blanketing the hillsides and roadways, most of what Bob paints simply comes from his head. There is rarely a day that passes that he doesn’t sit down at the easel or with his sketchbook and say, ‘What’s next?’”
Wildlife scenes will also be in the show, such as Brian Grimm’s Head Turner. Describing the painting, Grimm says, “Head Turner is a scene that is about the beauty of the Texas Hill Country where the deer are so prevalent. A standout buck like this is more likely to be encountered in the early morning or late day as in this scene.”
This year’s Fall Group Show will take place September 6 to 27, with the artist reception opening night from 6 to 8 p.m.
