Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale

Cody, WY

-

The return of the Rendezvous Royale: Celebration of the Arts brings the 38th annual Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale to Cody, Wyoming, this fall. Running from September 16 through 21, the art show and live auction will feature the work of more than 100 Western artists, including Josh Elliott, Kevin Red Star, Michele Usibelli, Ron Kingswood, Oreland Joe, Josh Tobey, Mark Edward Adams, Ann Hanson and Santiago Michalek.

In addition to the live auction, which takes place on September 20, Buffalo Bill includes a huge vareity of events, including a “Colorful Canvases” workshop led by Laurie Lee on September 19, and “Painting on the Porch,” a multi-day workshop led by Michael Ome Untiedt from September 16 through 18.

Kathy Thompson, who celebrates her 12th year as the director of the event, says, “Time flies when one is working with amazing artists and great partners such as the Center of

the West and the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce to produce this great show and sale. Every year when I walk into the beautifully hung gallery I am in awe of what I see. Some 100 artists are bringing their best to share the stories of the West as they each see it and live it.”

Among the artists is Lee, who says about her oil Cliffhanger, “A few years ago, I was boating in Wyoming’s Yellowtail Canyon. I watched in awe as the bighorn sheep traversed the rocky crags traveling with ease on the high canyon walls. The highlights on the rocks and the reflections on the peaceful water were calling me to paint them. After viewing the dexterity of the sheep, the title of the painting came naturally.” For her “Colorful Canvases“workshop, Lee plans on demonstrating a wildlife piece with a focus on painting fur.

Elliot will exhibit his oil Admiring Autumn at the exhibition and sale. “I’m excited to be included in the Buffalo Bill Art Show,” he says. “It’s one of the friendliest shows out there, organized by wonderful people and full of amazing artists. I love being in Cody as well— the Buffalo Bill Museum is inspiring and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, well worth anyone’s time to visit.”

To conclude the week’s festivities, a quick draw, silent auction and champagne brunch will be held on September 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information about the event, visit www.rendezvousroyale.org.
