The Hockaday Museum of Art’s mission is to enrich the cultural life of our community and region and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park. The museum maintains a permanent collection and offers rotating exhibits by nationally renowned and emerging artists, in addition to a permanent exhibit of Glacier National Park art and culture. A Discovery Gallery provides hands-on activities for children that coincide with the rotating exhibits. Contemporary artists of recent art acquisitions include Krystii Melaine’s Ksikkaapaiaiksi - White Weasels, Blackfoot, oil on linen panel, 24 by 18 inches, from this year’s A Timeless Legacy exhibition, purchased by the museum; and Lorenzo Chavez’s Wind Pines-glacier, pastel, 14 by 22 inches, from the museum’s recent Plein Air Painters of America exhibition, Going to the Sun. Historical artists of note include Charles M. Russell, O.C. Seltzer, John Fery and Lucile Van Slyck.
“The Hockaday is pleased to host Linda Glover Gooch in her first solo show in Northwest Montana. Her exhibition, Intertwined with Living Waters, is all about the survival force of water in its different forms in nature. If you know her work, you know Linda is a master at painting water. We are excited to share Linda’s oil paintings, field studies and sketches from Glacier to the Grand Canyon.” – Tracy Johnson, executive director, Hockaday Museum of Art
