A Big Return
The rescheduled Prix de West is set for September 12 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
The Prix de West, one of the annual highlights in the Western art world, has been rescheduled for September at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The new dates will include a small departure from previous years: Instead of the sale occurring at the start of the exhibition’s run, it will occur at the end. The exhibition opens to the public on August 1 and continues through September 13. The fixed-price, by-draw sale will take place on September 12.
This year’s Prix de West, the 48th edition of the prestigious exhibition, will feature more than 300 works of art by many of the top Western artists working today. Participating artists include Paul Moore, Len Chmiel, T. Allen Lawson, Martin Grelle, Logan Maxwell Hagege, Curt Walters, Brent Cotton, George Hallmark, Terri Kelly Moyers, Jeremy Lipking and many others.
New artists are painters Eric Bowman and Teresa Elliott.
In addition to the sale on
September 12, other weekend events include a luncheon, author and artist book signing, reception, artist demonstrations, awards presentation, live auction and a seminar.
“Prix de West is the most anticipated event in the Western art world, and it is our honor to continue this tradition for its 48th year,” says museum president and CEO Natalie Shirley, who added that the show was postponed due to the ongoing health crisis. “The safety and well-being of our patrons, volunteers and staff is always our top priority here at the Cowboy. Prix de West draws visitors and buyers from all over the country, and we believe postponing the exhibition and sale until this fall will give the public the best possible chance to see these fantastic pieces and participate in the sale.”
