Collectors

-

I’ve talked about this before but I think it is so important that I wanted to touch on it again. As the editor of four magazines focused on getting the best art in front of the best collectors in the country each month, I’m continually in awe of the commitment and drive these collectors have for art. Every day I think that even now, during probably the worst economic situation we will face in our lifetime, we still have dedicated people searching daily for new art to acquire. And not just searching for it but buying it! Collecting.

In the purest form.

Out of love. Out of passion. Out of commitment. Every day.

I’ve been talking to galleries, artists and auction houses around the country for the last six months and all of them are saying the same thing. Yes, maybe sales are down some but a majority of the business is happening online and it’s happening early and often. I just spoke to a gallery owner who had a collector call them and purchase two paintings over the phone and spend nearly six figures doing so. All in a two-minute conversation. On a recent trip to Santa Fe, I spoke with galleries who were selling paintings every day online to collectors who have been eagerly checking the gallery website to find new work.

I want to show gratitude for these people. These passionate souls who are still out there buying work, finding new artists, following online auctions, calling galleries, etc. The whole process.

It is truly a blessing to create a magazine that helps them on these journeys.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joshua Rose Editor
