Canyon Road Extravaganza
The galleries along Canyon Road in Santa Fe present an abundance of fresh work for the annual spring art festival.
Many consider New Mexico as an epicenter for the arts, and more specifically, the town of Santa Fe. The Historic Arts District along the halfmile Canyon Road, Santa Fe’s main drag, is home to more than 80 galleries, along with an array of artists studios, restaurants and iconic architecture. On Saturday, May 7, artists will come together for the 9th Annual Canyon Road Spring Art Festival in celebration of the decades-rich live art scene along the iconic road.
Event organizers note that “dozens of artists working in every imaginable media will provide an unprecedented view of their creative processes at [this year’s festival].” Galleries along Canyon Road will feature quite the array of original works, offering a little something for everyone. This includes paintings in oil and acrylic, watercolor, drawings in pastel and charcoal, mixed media work, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass art, leather works and more.
There will also be diversity in theme, style and subject matter.
Collectors will have opportunities to request live commissions, ask questions and take in the sheer talent and exuberance of the artists. Individual galleries will host complimentary special events like art tours, artist demonstrations, to name just a few.
Participating galleries include Acosta Strong Fine Art, Adobe Gallery, Ahmyo River Gallery, Barbara Meikle Fine Art, Canyon Road Contemporary, GF Contemporary, Giacobbe-fritz Fine Art, Hecho a Mano,
Kay Contemporary Art, Legacy Gallery, Pottery of the Southwest, Prescott Gallery, Sage Creek Gallery, Ventana Fine Art, Vivo Contemporary and Winterowd Fine Art.
