Western Art Collector

The Gold Standard!

-

Welcome to the September issue of Western Art Collector! Holy Toledo, is this issue jam packed for collectors! As publishers, we anxiously wait to see the final page plan each month. Of course, we are working collaboratively all month to bring the issues together with thoughtful features, insightful special sections and amazing collectors focuses to accessorize around our gold standard of upcoming auctions and art gallery previews. This is the framework of Western Art Collector!

This issue is special as it has some our annual coverage of our wildlife, Western Visions and our Visions of the Fall section. More than 24 pages have been dedicated to these features starting on Page 62. We have some very important art show previews inside that should be noted as the artists are amazing and their works are for sale. These shows are the Society of Animal Artists Exhibition, the Artists for

Conservation Festival and SLOPOKE: Fine Art of the West

Exhibition & Sale. These artists are not only great painters and sculptors, they are also supporting great causes.

In our gallery preview section, we have eight new gallery shows for you to consider. If there is anything you see, and want to beat other collectors to before the show opens, by all means contact the galleries directly and do it right away. We also preview some amazing auctions happening in September including the annual Jackson Hole

Art Auction. Several of our Western Art Collector team will have boots on the ground in Jackson Hole for that those popular events.

Executive editor Michael Clawson just returned from the Coeur d’alene Art Auction and what a show it was. More than $16 million in sales, a combination of contemporary and historic art, traded hands in Reno, Nevada, and you can see the results on Page 162. Santa Fe Art Auction also had strong results from its big summer sale, and we cover that show as well.

The Western art market is fun and full of interesting people and collectors. We have the honor of featuring Don and Cathey Humphreys’ beautiful collector home beginning on Page 50. This is a must-view feature!

Stay tuned for next month as we bring our Outlaws & Lawmen section back into the magazine. Enjoy the issue and stay tuned for more exciting collecting adventures.

Sincerely,
