Works by Maynard Dixon and Thomas Moran offered at Heritage Auctions’ November 4 sale.

-

Heritage Auctions will be offering several superb examples from Maynard Dixon, Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt at its November 4 sale in Dallas. The American Art Signature Auction will feature work from all around the American art market, but Western collectors will appreciate some keys lots by artists known for painting in the West.

The two Dixon pieces should draw considerable attention from bidders. They are the 1935 painting Lonesome Ranch, Los Banos, California, estimated at $70,000 to $100,000, and the 1944 work Bright Morning, Utah, estimated at $100,000 to $150,000. Both works show Dixon’s love of form and scale within the Southwest.

The Bierstadt piece available is Niagara Falls, American Side, estimated at $60,000 to $80,000. Moran will have two works, both Venetian scenes, that will be open for bidding: Entrance to the Grand Canal, Venice (est. $70/100,000) and Venetian Scene (est. $60/80,000). Both Moran works are oil on canvas and were completed in 1906.
