- Submitted by SSRH

SILOAM SPRINGS — Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will host its fourth annual ER Kids Fair & Health Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, on the hospital grounds at 603 N. Progress Ave. Last year, more than 800 people attended this free family event.

“This event is a great opportunity to do something with the whole family,” said Carmen Burasco, human resources director at the hospital. “It’s completely free and there are lots of fun activities for everyone.

“We have a couple of new features this year,” Burasco added. “One is the Mega Brain, which is a giant inflatable exhibit guests can walk through that shows the effects a stroke can have on a person’s brain. We’re also excited to have KNWA Meteorologist Heidi Waggoner as our special guest this year. She’ll be sharing weather safety tips, visiting with guests and will have a tornado machine on exhibit.”

Fast-track registration will be available again this year. These registration forms are available online at SSRH.net/HealthExpo for families to fill out ahead of time and bring with them the day of the event. A special gift will be available to those who bring the completed fast-track registration form to the event. A registration table and fast-track registration table will be located near the expo tent for participants to check-in when they arrive.

The event also includes health and wellness activities; a tricycle obstacle course with safety education; the annual teddy bear clinic in the SSRH emergency room; safety experts; emergency service vehicles, including a helicopter which children can tour; a fingerprinting station from Siloam Springs Police Department; an “operation” station in the health expo tent; bounce houses; a smoke house hosted by Siloam Springs Fire Department to educate children on what to do in the event of a house fire; and more.

“There are plenty of activities for the adults, too,” Burasco said. “The health expo will feature vendors from all over the state and health information for everyone. We’re very excited to have several city of Siloam Springs departments present, as well as area clinics and services.”

And don’t forget to stay for lunch and entertainment. A live DJ will provide music and keep guests updated about events during the day. Free refreshments will be available for everyone to enjoy while they spend the day learning more about safety and health.
