Gentry High School holds career fair

- By Angie Dennis Director of Special Education for Gentry and Decatur School Districts

GENTRY — Gentry Public Schools hosted the Western Benton County Resource Fair on Feb. 8 in the Pioneer Activity Complex. This was an opportunity for area schools to attend a career/ resource fair and not have to travel too far. We had the following school districts participate: Gentry, Decatur, Siloam Springs, Pea Ridge, Farmington and Elkins.

We invited a variety of vendors due to the diverse population in our schools. The following vendors attended our fair this year:

■ Colleges and Vocational Schools — University of Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas Community Col- lege, John Brown University, Arkansas Tech, College of the Ozarks, Arkansas Career Technical Institute, Missouri Welding, PRN Medical Services, Petra Allied Health, Career Academy of Hair Design, and Paul Mitchell.

■ Disability Services — ATS — Paul Johnston, Sources, Services for the Blind, Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and Friendship.

■ Military — Army, National Guard and Marines.

■ Employment — Arkansas Workforce, McKee Foods, McDonalds and JB Hunt.

We would like to thank Friendship for hosting our luncheon and the high school students who participated by giving out popcorn and selling drinks (money will be donated to the Sooter Family for their little girl).
