Gentry Easter activities moved to store
GENTRY — Heavy rains early in the week and the threat of more rain on Saturday led to the cancellation of the annual Easter egg hunt in Gentry which was sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce. Instead, children were invited to stop by the Gentry Harps Food Store, where the Chamber passed out bags of Easter treats and gave children a chance to have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny.
The park was soggy early in the week and just drying out, but more rain was in the forecast for Saturday, so the decision was made to cancel the annual event and move to the Gentry Harps store instead, said Janie Parks, director of the Gentry Chamber of Commerce.
And many children came out to receive a bag of goodies and to visit with the Easter Bunny while parents and friends took photos.
Gentry High School’s honor society students assisted at the event on Saturday by passing out the bags of goodies and making it possible for the Easter Bunny to be on hand for the children.
