Lady Lions vic­to­ri­ous at home, on road

GRAVETTE — In spite of all the rain ear­lier in the week, the Lady Lions won a pair of con­fer­ence games March 29 and 30, ex­tend­ing their win­ning streak with 13 games left in the reg­u­lar sea­son.

The Lady Lions played their long­time ri­vals, the Gen­try Lady Pi­o­neers, at Lion soft­ball field in Gravette March 29. It was all Gravette, and Lady Lions’ Bai­ley El­more is cred­ited with pitch­ing a shutout against the Lady Pi­o­neers.

From the mound, El­more threw 58 pitches with only 2 hits and six strike­outs.

The Lady Lions man­aged four runs in the first and sec­ond in­nings to take a 4-0 lead over the Lady Pi­o­neers. From that point for­ward, the Lady Lions con­trolled the game, scor­ing five in both the third and fourth and four in the fifth in­ning to take the con­test, 18-0.

Allee Sweeten was the start­ing pitcher for the Lady Pi­o­neers. She pitched three com­plete in­nings, throw­ing a to­tal of 75 times, al­low­ing four hits, nine runs, two earned runs and four walks. Sweeten

was re­lieved in the fourth in­ning by Makayla Case, who pitched the re­main­ing two in­nings, throw­ing a to­tal of 48 times, al­low­ing 10 hits, nine runs, nine earned runs, and one walk.

Gravette: 29-AB, 18-R, 14-H, 15-RBI, 5-BB.

Gen­try: 16-AB, 20-H, SO-6.

The Lady Lions, com­ing off of a win over ri­val Gen­try Lady Pi­o­neers the day be­fore, took con­trol of the con­test to bring home six run­ners while hold­ing the West Fork Lady Tigers score­less un­til the third in­ning when they man­aged to score two. The Lady Lions scored eight more times to the Lady Tigers one to take the con­test, 14-3.

Lexi Gerner was on the mound for the Lady Lions, pitch­ing the en­tire five-in­ning con­test. She threw 77 pitches and al­lowed five hits, three runs, two earned runs. She had eight strike­outs and walked two.

Pitch­ing for the West Fork was Kyn­dalle Reed, who pitched the en­tire game, throw­ing 91 pitches. Reed al­lowed 12 hits, 14 runs, and 12 earned runs while walk­ing five.

Gravette: 25-AB, 14-R, 12-H, 11-RBI, 5-BB.

West Fork: 22-AB, 3-R, 5-H, 3-RBI, BB-2, 6-SO.
