Pioneers eke past Lions, 7-6
GRAVETTE — Despite being outhit by the Lions, the Gentry Pioneers took an early lead against Gravette on March 26 and answered two runs in the bottom of the sixth with two in the top of the seventh to regain the lead and take the win, 7-6.
After three runs in the third and another in the fourth and fifth, the Pioneers were up, 5-3, until the bottom of the sixth inning when Gravette’s Jonah Keener scored on a passed ball and Brady Moorman scored on a pitcher’s error to tie things up at five runs each.
Then in the top of the seventh, Zach Jarnagan scored on a centerfielder’s error and Jacob Lothes scored on a passed ball, giving Gentry the edge.
In the bottom of the inning, Mason Dagley walked and later scored on a walk, but the Pioneers were able to end the inning with a Gravette line-drive out to center.
Gravette finished with six runs on eight hits and had four errors. Gentry picked up seven runs on three hits and had two errors.
Over Spring break, the Pioneers played several games on a Panama City, Fla., trip with teams in Florida, losing on March 21, by a score of 8-3, on March 20, 13-0, and on March 19, 13-10.
