Gen­try girls fall to Ber­ryville

GEN­TRY — Two Ber­ryville runs in the sev­enth gave the Lady Bob­cats a 7-6 vic­tory over the Lady Pi­o­neers on Fri­day at Ber­ryville.

Af­ter Ber­ryville took an early lead with a run in the first and three more in the sec­ond, the Lady Pi­o­neers scored five runs in the fifth to take the lead, though the Lady Bob­cats tied things up at 5 runs each by the end of the in­ning.

Gen­try then took the lead in the top of the sixth, scor­ing a solo run when Melody Owens hit a hard ground ball out into cen­ter field, bring­ing home Makayla Case, who was run­ning for Alexis Droddy.

Owens had two of Gen­try’s eight hits in the game. Bar­ber had two RBIs.

Pitch­ing for Gen­try was Rae­gan Jude. She al­lowed 11 hits, seven earned runs and struck out two.

Gravette 18, Gen­try 0

On Thurs­day, the Lady Pi­o­neers were shut out, 18-0, by the Lady Lions in a game played in Gravette due to a wet ball­field in Gen­try.

Meledy Owens and Mandy Bar­ber had Gen­try’s only hits in the game with one each.
