Lady Lions continue winning ways

GRAVETTE — The Lady Lions continued their winning streak, adding three more victories in the win column. Gravette’s first win was the April 2 contest with the Elkins Lady Elks. An April 5 doublehead­er against the Greenland Lady Pirates yielded a pair of wins and brings the Lady Lions’ overall record to 11-3 and 5-1 in conference play.

In the April 2 contest, Sophia Hollingswo­rth opened the first inning with a single with the bases loaded, bringing home one run. This was the only run for the Lady Elks in the contest.

In the third inning, a double by Emily Ellis drove home two runs to give Gravette a 3-1 lead.

Six runs in the sixth inning sealed the deal for the Lady Lions as they took the win, 12-1.

Bailey Elmore was on the mound for the Lady Lions, pitching the full five-inning contest. She threw 81 pitches, striking out eight and walking one. She allowed two hits and the one run by Hollingswo­rth.

Hollingswo­rth was on the mound for the Lady Elks, completing the fiveinning game while pitching 104 times. She allowed 10 hits and 12 runs with three strikeouts.

Gravette: 25-AB, 12-R, 10-H, 7-RBI, 3-BB, 3-SO, 1-E. Elkins: 17-AB, 1-R, 2-H, 1-RBI, 1-BB, 8-SO, 3-E.

In the doublehead­er with the Greenland Lady Pirates, it was all Lady Lions as both games ended after three innings on the ten-run rule. Lexi Gerner was credited with the shutout in game one. She completed all three innings, throwing a total of 34 pitches with six strikeouts.

Gravette: 12-AB, 15-R, 6-H, 8-RBI, 12-BB, 0-SO, 0-E. Greenland: 9-AB, 0-R, 0-H, 0-RBI, 0-BB, 6-SO, 2-E.

Game 2 Gravette 16, Greenland 1

In game two, Gravette was able to score eight runs in the first and second innings on four triples to put the Lady Pirates away, 15-1.

Taylor Snow was on the mound for Gravette, completing three innings, throwing 46 pitching. She allowed two hits and one run and struck out seven.

Gravette: 17-AB, 16-R, 9-H, 9-RBI, 5-BB, 0-SO, 2-E. Greenland: 13-AB, 1-R, 2-H, 1-RBI, 0-BB, 7-SO, 4-E.
