Full sched­ule set for July 4 Free­dom Fest in Gen­try

GEN­TRY — In ad­di­tion to the mu­si­cal per­form­ers who will en­ter­tain those who at­tend the 105th an­nual Free­dom Fes­ti­val to­day, July 4, nu­mer­ous other events and ac­tiv­i­ties will be tak­ing place in the Gen­try City Park.

A car show will be held on the north side of the park, with cars on dis­play much of the day.

For the chil­dren, there will be in­flat­able rides, a petting zoo from Wild Wilder­ness Sa­fari, and a kid’s zone tent.

A va­ri­ety of food and drink ven­dors will be on hand all day, and a spec­tac­u­lar fire­works dis­play is again planned for the evening, be­gin­ning at dusk.

Lit­tle Miss and Mis­ter Gen­try Pageants are sched­uled to be held on the stage at 1:30 p.m. Then, at 2 p.m., con­tes­tants will vie for the ti­tle of Miss Gen­try in the Miss Gen­try Pageant.

Mu­sic for the day in­cludes Amity Heart at noon; Mark Shields and Good Com­pany at 3 p.m.; River’s Edge Band at 4:30 p.m.; Back Road Story at 6 p.m.; and John King at 7:30 p.m.
