Gravette Assembly of God sets Vacation Bible School
Gravette Assembly of God Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 30 through Aug. 1 at the church, 1108 N.W. Main, about a mile west of downtown. This year’s VBS will feature a baseball theme. Children will participate in some skits; and there will be singing, recreation and refreshments each evening. A bus will run from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m., and youngsters needing rides may call 479212-4066 to be picked up.
Samaritan’s Feet shoe drive scheduled Saturday
The fourth annual Samaritan’s Feet Back-to-School Shoe Drive will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28. The 218 children who registered for the event are reminded to attend that day at the Gravette Middle School cafeteria on El Paso Street.
Cornerstone Baptist plans Vacation Bible School
Cornerstone Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 29 through Aug. 1 at the church, 24550 Floyd Moore Road in Gentry, off Arkansas Highway 43, west of Gentry and south of Cherokee City. This year we are “AMPED about Jesus! Living Fully Alive!” It will be an action-packed four days filled with Bible adventure, crafts, music, snacks and new friends. Gentry Farmers Market open three days a week

Hybrid grill raffle underway
The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Fitness Center is selling tickets for a chance to win a Member’s Mark gas and charcoal hybrid grill with a searing side burner donated by Sam’s Club. Tickets are $2 each and may be purchased at the Center, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The drawing will be held Friday, July 27. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in the Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville areas.
Summer Reading ends July 31 at Gentry library
Libraries Rock is the theme of this year’s summer reading program at Gentry Public Library. The program is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays through July 31 and will be held in the McKee Community Room at Gentry’s library. A Wrap Party will be held July 31. The final party will include games, music and prizes.
Sulphur Springs library seeks volunteers to work
The Sulphur Springs public library is seeking volunteers who can spend at least two to three hours (or more) working at the library. The library, at 213 Bush St., is open Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m., but hours could be expanded if more volunteers are secured. Anyone who can help is asked to call the library, 479-298-3753, and leave a message. Donations of DVDs are also being sought.
Variety of artists sought for Gravette Day
Artists in a variety of media are being sought to display their works in an art show on Gravette Day, Saturday, Aug. 11. Any artists interested in entering artwork may contact the show organizer, Michael Kelley, 479-936-1424.
AARP Driver’s Safety Class slated Friday
An AARP Driver’s Safety Class will be 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 1 at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members. Payments by cash or check are due the day of the class. Classes are designed for drivers 55 and older. Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays
The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. For information, stop by the church during food pantry hours.
