Gravette fall festival scheduled this Saturday
GRAVETTE — The annual Gravette community fall festival is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 27, in the front parking lot at Ozarks Community Hospital. Events will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to come in costume.
A variety of booths will be set up with games and treats for the children. Several vehicles will be lined up for the popular trunk or treat event and youngsters will be able to do face painting, paint pumpkins and do some holiday crafts. Inflatables will be on the grounds for the children’s enjoyment, and a petting zoo will be provided. Food and snow cones will be available. A photo booth will be set up where festival goers can shoot a lasting memory of the evening.
A chili cookoff is always a highlight of the evening and teams of chili cooks are encouraged to enter and compete. Entry fee for each team is $10. Each team will be given a 6x6 foot space to set up and decorate. Setup may begin at 1 p.m. and should be complete by 3:30 p.m. The cookoff will begin at 4 p.m. and winners will be announced at 6:30. Samples will be sold for $1 and tasters who purchase the samples will vote on their favorite pots of chili. A $100 prize will be awarded to the winner of the best chili voting and a $50 prize will be given to the most creative team. Contestants are encouraged to name their chili and decorate their booths to reflect that name. Remember to bring two jars for tasters to put in their votes.
The event will be held, rain or shine.
