Gravette Vet­er­ans Day ser­vice set for Sun­day

A Vet­er­ans Day ser­vice will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sun­day, Nov. 11, at Hill­crest Ceme­tery in Gravette to com­mem­o­rate the 100th an­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the ar­mistice end­ing World War I. The ser­vice will also honor Gravette’s World War I air ace, Cap­tain Field E. Kind­ley. Speaker will be state se­na­tor Col. Jim Hen­dren. An open house and re­cep­tion will fol­low at the Gravette His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum An­nex, 503 Char­lotte Street S.E.

Fall­ing Springs Church to hold pie auc­tion, cake walk

Fall­ing Springs Church will hold its an­nual pie auc­tion and cake walk at 7 p.m. on Satur­day, Nov. 10, at the church. Money raised will be used for the Christ­mas pro­gram and food bas­kets for peo­ple of the com­mu­nity. All are in­vited to come and join in the fun and fel­low­ship. Fall­ing Springs Church is lo­cated 4 1/2 miles west of De­catur on Fall­ing Springs Road.

Gen­try Li­brary Gala set

A gala to sup­port the work of Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary is sched­uled for 6:30 p.m. on Satur­day, Nov. 17, in the Gen­try Mid­dle School cafe­te­ria. The gala theme is “A Novel Oc­ca­sion” and tick­ets are avail­able for $50 each at the Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary, Gen­try City Hall and the Gen­try Cham­ber of Com­merce. Free quilt, craft class of­fered

A free class for area quilters and crafters will be held at 12:15 p.m. Satur­day, Nov. 10, at the Gravette Church of Christ an­nex, 202 Irv­ing Street S.W. In­struc­tion will be given on a quilt block, and a “show and tell” ses­sion will be held. Please bring fin­ished projects or works in progress and a snack to share. Please note that this is a change from the reg­u­lar third Satur­day meet­ing date.

Se­nior cen­ter hold­ing quilt raf­fle

Tick­ets are be­ing sold for chances to win three quilts made and do­nated by Betty Howard. Tick­ets, for $1 each or six for $5, may be pur­chased at the Billy V. Hall Se­nior Ac­tiv­ity Cen­ter, lo­cated at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The draw­ing will be held Wed­nes­day, Nov. 14. All pro­ceeds go to the Meals on Wheels pro­gram that serves home­bound se­niors in the Gravette, De­catur, Sul­phur Springs, Hi­wasse and Maysville ar­eas.

Free Gravette Com­mu­nity Thanks­giv­ing din­ner set

The Gravette Com­mu­nity free Thanks­giv­ing din­ner will be held Satur­day, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the cafe­te­ria at Gravette High School. The event is spon­sored by area churches and busi­nesses.

Hat and glove give­away planned in De­catur

Fel­low­ship Full Gospel Church in De­catur will have a hat and glove give­away from 9 a.m. un­til noon on Satur­day, Nov. 17, at the De­catur Train De­pot as a way to help keep the com­mu­nity warm this win­ter. Hats and gloves will be avail­able for men and women, as well as chil­dren and teenagers. The only re­quire­ment to re­ceive a hat or pair of gloves is to show up at the des­ig­nated time and place.

Com­mu­nity Thanks­giv­ing ser­vice planned

The Gen­try Com­mu­nity Thanks­giv­ing Ser­vice will be held at 6 p.m. on Sun­day, Nov. 18, at the Spring­town Chris­tian Fel­low­ship Church. Ed­die Knight, First Bap­tist Church pas­tor, will be the fea­tured speaker. There will be a fel­low­ship fol­low­ing the ser­vice. Please bring fin­ger foods.

The Gen­try Cham­ber of Com­merce-spon­sored Christ­mas pa­rade, with a theme of “Christ­mas Around the World,” is set to be held on Gen­try’s Main Street at 6:30 p.m. on Satur­day, Dec. 8. Di­a­betic nu­tri­tion class of­fered Nov. 13

TOPS meet in Gen­try

Gen­try TOPS AR113, a non-profit group which pro­motes healthy weight loss, meets ev­ery Mon­day at the First Chris­tian Church Fel­low­ship Room, Sec­ond and Giles, with a weigh in at 2:15 p.m. and the meet­ing at 3 p.m. There is a small fee to join but the first meet­ing is free.

First Bap­tist holds food pantry in De­catur

First Bap­tist Church, lo­cated at 213 E. Roller Av­enue in De­catur, holds a com­mu­nity food pantry on the sec­ond and fourth Wed­nes­days of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more in­for­ma­tion, con­tact the church at 479-7523514.

De­catur UMC pantry open first, third Thurs­days

The De­catur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thurs­day evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and of­fers food boxes to De­catur res­i­dents. All that is needed is a valid iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, a util­ity bill or piece of mail show­ing an ad­dress in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also avail­able is a USDA com­mod­ity pro­gram to res­i­dents of De­catur and other com­mu­ni­ties with­out a com­mod­ity pro­gram. The com­mod­ity pro­gram re­quires in­come in­for­ma­tion. GFA food pantry open Tues­days

The GFA food pantry at the First Assem­bly of God in Gen­try is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tues­days. The church part­ners with the NWA Food Bank and Ru­ral Com­pas­sion to re­ceive food to be given away, in­clud­ing canned goods, fresh vegeta­bles, bread, milk and dairy prod­ucts, eggs and meats. Other items such as toi­let pa­per, sham­poo, clean­ing prod­ucts and baby sup­plies are also avail­able as sup­plies last. Clients are asked to call for an ap­point­ment.
