GRAVETTE — The Lions just couldn’t score in the first quarter of their game against the visiting Huntsville Eagles. And though they fought their way back from a huge deficit, they weren’t able to soar above the Eagles in their 61-56 loss on Friday in Lion Fieldhouse.

The Eagles claimed the win in 4A-1 Conference action Friday night as Beau Welchel scorched the nets for 35 points. Sean McCone added 16 for Huntsville.

Jake Carver and Chance Austin scored 12 each for Gravette.

In an away game at Lincoln on Nov. 27, the Lions came up short against the Wolves, 62-52. Though the Lions played a strong fourth quarter, scoring 20 points, the damage had been done and it was too little too late.

Brayden Trembly led the Lions in scoring with 15 points. Isaac Griffith had 12 and Jake Carver had nine.
