Jay Wil­liams hon­ored

Jay Wil­liams (right) was hon­ored by Gen­try mayor, Kevin John­ston, at a spe­cial re­cep­tion Thurs­day in the McKee Com­mu­nity Room of Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary for his 26 years of ser­vice as Gen­try’s city at­tor­ney. Wil­liams also was Gen­try’s pros­e­cut­ing at­tor­ney for 25 years. Wil­liams con­tin­ues his law prac­tice but said he felt it was time to let an­other take over as the city’s le­gal rep­re­sen­ta­tive. He was hon­ored by coun­cil mem­bers, city em­ploy­ees and oth­ers from the com­mu­nity at the re­cep­tion. Wil­liams con­tin­ues to rep­re­sent High­fill and other mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties in non-crim­i­nal mat­ters. Joel Kurtz, a mem­ber of Wil­liams Law Firm, was elected city at­tor­ney for Gen­try and be­gins on Jan. 1.
