Jay Williams honored
Jay Williams (right) was honored by Gentry mayor, Kevin Johnston, at a special reception Thursday in the McKee Community Room of Gentry Public Library for his 26 years of service as Gentry’s city attorney. Williams also was Gentry’s prosecuting attorney for 25 years. Williams continues his law practice but said he felt it was time to let another take over as the city’s legal representative. He was honored by council members, city employees and others from the community at the reception. Williams continues to represent Highfill and other municipalities in non-criminal matters. Joel Kurtz, a member of Williams Law Firm, was elected city attorney for Gentry and begins on Jan. 1.
