Pioneers fall to Bobcats in overtime

Girls fall at Berryville, win against Marionvill­e

GENTRY — The Pioneers fell to the Bobcats at Berryville on Dec. 21 by just two points, 55-53, in overtime.

The Pioneers were up by two after the first quarter but down, 24-22, at the half.

After a strong third quarter, the Bobcats widened their lead to 39-33; but the Pioneers fought back, scoring 17 points in the final quarter to tie up the game at 50 apiece.

In overtime, the Bobcats scored five to the Pioneer’s three for the win.

GIRLS Berryville 60 Gentry 36

On the girl’s side, Berryville dominated and sent the Gentry girls home with a 60-36 loss.

The Lady Pioneers scored nine in the first quarter and seven in the second, with Ariel Nix and Kinley Hays hitting threepoint­ers and Emily Toland hitting five deuces.

Jaiden Wilmoth hit three treys in the second half to contribute to Gentry’s 20 points. Meledy Owens also hit a three-pointer.

Toland led the Gentry girls in scoring with 11. Wilmoth had nine and Nix five.

Gentry 42 Marionvill­e 8

In a nonconfere­nce game against Marionvill­e played in Washburn, Mo., on Dec. 26, the Lady Pioneers brought home a huge victory, 42-8.

The Lady Pioneers held their opponents scoreless in the first and third quarters and allowed three points in the second quarter and five in the fourth.

Randi Jo Bolinger led the Lady Pioneers in scoring with 12. Emily Toland had nine, and Ariel Nix seven.
