GRAVETTE — Now that June has rolled around, area residents have another option in eating places. Allan and Lisa Wilson opened their food truck, Burntsugars, June 1 at 105 First Avenue S.E., in the park just south of Green Heart Realty. The truck is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. It is closed on Thursday. The Wilsons are also available to do catering for business lunches and special events. Hours may change, so call or check Burntsugars’ Facebook page.

Business has been good so far. “Gravette’s been good to us,” Lisa said.

The Wilsons operated their truck in Cave Springs for eight months before moving it to Gravette and, so far, they have more customers in their new location.

“We just want to give folks a good meal at a reasonable price and hope they will want to come back for more,” she continued.

The Wilsons emphasize that all food is made from scratch. No meals have been waiting in a warming oven. They are prepared only after the order is submitted.

Lisa said she has been interested in food preparation ever since she was a child. Her grandmother worked in a truck stop and took her along to work. She sat on the counter and watched as grandma cooked lots of biscuits and gravy and countless lunches. She has long had a dream of operating her own food truck.

Lisa has a lot of experience in food service. She operated her own catering business in Las Vegas for 25 years and in California for 10 years before that. Allan’s background was in the construction business. They were married in Las Vegas in 2000 and operated a little gas station where they sold burgers, tacos and wings for a short time. He says he’s just along to help Lisa realize her dream.

The Wilsons moved to Arkansas in July 2018 to be near Lisa’s mother, who lives in Gentry. The Wilsons can be contacted by telephone at 479-203-8063 if you want to place an advance order or contact them. They are also on Facebook at burnt sugars foodtruck.
