Four seniors vie for Decatur homecoming title
DECATUR — A crowning achievement for a high school senior is the title of homecoming queen. Four Decatur seniors will vie for the 2019 Decatur homecoming title Oct. 25, prior to the football contest between the Decatur Bulldogs and the Quinton (Okla.) Savages at 7 p.m.
Those vying for this year’s title include seniors Emmy Lee, Deysi Rubi, Heidi Rubi and Kaliey Sutherland. Joining the homecoming court this year will be Ana Rodriquez, sophomore maid; Anabelle Schopper, junior maid; Amy Tran, junior maid; Jacey Smith, freshmen maid; and Tori Sutherlan, freshmen maid. Escorts for this year’s event include Victor Gonzalez, Carlos Perez, Tony Trejo, Sam Philpot, Lauro Molina, Waylon Harrington, Edgar Herrera and Mason Potter.
The homecoming festivities start with the parade through downtown Decatur. Lineup begins at 1:25 p.m. at Decatur City Hall, 310 Maple Ave. The parade starts at 1:45 and runs from city hall through downtown Decatur and up Hill Avenue back to Peterson Gym parking lot.
Following the parade, the Decatur High School cheer team will lead the student body in a pep rally at Peterson Gym at 2:15 p.m.
The coronation ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur.
The public is encouraged to attend any or all of the homecoming festival activities. Come out and support the 2019 Decatur Bulldog football team as it fights to win its first game of the season.
