- Orval Ray Barrett

Orval Ray Barrett, 83, of Gravette, died on Dec. 27, 2019, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

He was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Tonkawa, Okla., to Orval Ray Barrett Sr. and Lillian Martin Barrett. He worked for Sheffield/ Armco Steel in Kansas City, Mo., from the age of 16 until the day he retired. He married Polly Ennis on Dec. 21, 1998, in Miami, Okla., and they spent 21 years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval “Duke” Barrett Sr. and Lillian Shockley; brother, Thomas Shockley; sister, Anita Brock; and stepson, Danny Ennis.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Barrett; two sons, Orval Barrett III of Kansas City, Mo., and Brandon Barrett and wife Mandy of Noel, Mo.; three daughters, Kim Venable of St. Joseph, Mo., Sandy Philpott and husband Jeff of Odessa, Mo., and Bridget Epperson and husband Ryan of Pineville, Mo.; four stepchildr­en, Michael Elias of Raytown, Mo., Jayme Watkins and husband Bruce of Independen­ce, Mo., Mike Ennis and wife Dorothy of Siloam Springs, Reta Hill and husband Jay of Siloam Springs; 12 grandchild­ren; 13 great-grandchild­ren; five step-grandchild­ren; 10 step-great-grandchild­ren, five step-great-greatgrand­children.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 2, at Christian Fellowship Church in Springtown, with Pastor Mark Rotramel officiatin­g. Burial followed at Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Mo., with arrangemen­ts under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
