Pray for decisions and powerful laws

- By Bill

A man with any decency about him will always be a gentleman. We are not found as little men under a rock and grow tall and big around when we are drug out from under the rock and air hits us. We all have some years of watching and wondering as we grow. I know some don’t have the example of decency at home but they sure notice it on the people they see elsewhere. The need to be a man with a clean place, three squares a day, and being needed is a strong call that many hear and dismiss as noise as they collect their checks.

I am reporting the last of the fall babies are on the ground and the loss is only one this time. We are happy to have a count of half heifers over by one and the bulls will stay intact until we see how they grow and develop. I feel like we are finally able to shoot for the kind of bulls cattlemen need and want. It has only taken me and my close relative a couple of lifetimes to accomplish this step. But we are still able to step lively!

If we get some rain soon, we will be ready for the change of seasons; but I sure hate to go into winter with low water in ponds and tanks. The grass is holding pretty good around and, even if we get showers to help that, the need for a runoff rain is sure on the table right now. I suspect a hard, cold, wet winter as we haven’t had one in several years. I believe the Old Farmer’s Almanac has come out and predicts the exact same thing. We are trying to prepare with more hay than usual and stockpiling feed.

The offspring are busy going through the equipment for storage and the old hay truck again. We did the right thing last year when we had the truck worked on and it never missed a lick this year. Still has no air conditioner but the heater works! We have noticed a good number of new mowers, rakes and balers in the area but we are just not going to talk to the banker about it this year.

The grands are occasionally all together on a Saturday, so we took them to the big city for ice cream! We had vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and some with two kinds on a cone. The ability to eat a three-dipper neatly is only achieved by practice from the age of 2! We have a couple who are adept at it! The time we spend with them is very dear to us and, again, we did not allow parents along on the trip.

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, the law is the law. I am happy to say I try to stay within the boundaries of said laws and I know most are for the benefit of my life and fellow men. The law must be in charge or there is only ruin of lives and property. We are gonna have to take the law back to the upper level and soon or we are going to be a third world country. Pray for decisions and powerful laws to be executed soon!

I have seen a ghost on a tree and a pumpkin on the porch around here! Be careful!
