Car show hits milestone

DECATUR — The second event of the 68th Decatur Barbecue set a new attendance record for the most vehicles on display during the one-day event.

Visitors to the barbecue only had to look up the long hill of the Frisbee Golf Course at Veterans Park in Decatur on Aug. 6 to see the 35 cars and trucks on display during the everpopular Decatur Barbecue car show.

Cars started arriving around 8 a.m. two hours before the event was scheduled to open. By 10 a.m., the hill began to fill up, with more pulling in by the minute.

By 11 a.m. the judges got their chance to look over the many cars and trucks and pick winners in seven different categories. The show ended at 2 p.m. with the award ceremony held on the third tee of the Frisbee Golf Course. Listed below are the first-, second- and third-places in each category.
