Gravette school hosts Aspire scores celebratio­n

GRAVETTE — Students at Gravette Middle School hosted an ACT Aspire Test Scores Celebratio­n for the entire school to celebrate the students’ excellent performanc­e on last year’s test scores.

An announceme­nt was made regarding where GMS students ranked regionally, and teachers and administra­tors were very pleased with the results.

GMS ranked in the top 8.8% regionally on the Aspire test scores. Sixth, seventh and eighth grades all ranked second regionally in math. Sixth grade ranked third regionally, seventh grade ranked fifth regionally, and eighth grade ranked second regionally in English. Sixth grade ranked third regionally, with seventh and eighth grades ranking second regionally in science. Sixth grade ranked first regionally, while seventh and eighth grades ranked second regionally in reading. GMS principal Taos Jones said that if the local students ranked in the top 10 overall regionally, he would agree to be pied in the face. He made good on his promise and followed through to receive the pie, much to the delight of teachers and students looking on. He was so happy about the test scores he still had a smile on his face when the celebratio­n was over.
