Dollar General Market being built in Gentry

GENTRY — A new Dollar General Market is currently under constructi­on in Gentry at a new location — 900 JR Bever Blvd., just south of the Gentry post office. At this time, a store opening is slated for late winter 2022, but constructi­on progress may alter this date.

The new store will be a Dollar General Market, according to a news release by the Dollar General company. “A DG Market offers customers the same value and convenienc­e they trust Dollar General to provide with an expanded merchandis­e selection, as well a wide assortment of dairy products, fresh produce, fresh meats and perishable foods,” the news release states.

“Our fresh fare includes lettuce, tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberri­es, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes and more,” the release states. Dollar General’s produce set offers the top 20 items typically sold in traditiona­l grocery stores and covers approximat­ely 80% of the produce categories most grocery stores carry, according to the release.

“Our customers are at the center of all that we do, and meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority when choosing store locations,” the release states. “In selecting store sites, we take a number of factors into considerat­ion, carefully evaluating each potential new store location to ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ price, value and selection needs. We further strive to provide convenienc­e for customers who may not have affordable nearby retail options.

“The store will employ approximat­ely 6-10 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store. According to the release, “Dollar General sells quality, name-brand and private brand merchandis­e such as foods, health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies, housewares, stationery, seasonal items and basic clothing.
