Lady Bulldogs win two matches in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE — The Decatur Lady Bulldog junior high and varsity volleyball teams took to the road Thursday afternoon for a pair of matches with the New School Lady Cougars from Fayetteville. After a tough loss to Life Way, the Lady Bulldogs needed a pair of wins.

Because New School had a junior high A team only, the Decatur B team would not get a chance to play its own match. But a plan devised by coach Cali Lankford allowed the B team players a chance to compete in the second set of the A game provided the A team won that set.

The junior high A Lady Bulldogs easily defeated the Lady Cougars in the first set, 25-8. So the B team got its chance to play the second set and managed to win as well, 25-16, for the match.

The Lady Bulldog varsity took the court, hoping to put behind the Life Way loss and pick up the second win against the New School team.

The Lady Cougars fought hard in all three sets, but ultimately the win went to the Decatur Lady Bulldogs, 25-15, 2510, 25-18.

The Decatur Lady Bulldogs return to PetersonOwens Fieldhouse for their final four home contests of the 2022 season. The Ozark Catholic Lady Griffins from Tontitown come to Decatur Sept. 26, followed by Mansfield Sept. 27, Lavaca Sept. 29, and Eureka Springs Oct. 4.

All contests begin at 4:30 with the junior high matches.
