Lady Lions win two, lose one

GRAVETTE — After starting out last week with 3-1 wins over Seneca, Mo., on Monday and Ozark on Tuesday, the Lady Lions finished their week with a 3-0 loss to Shiloh Christian on Thursday.

Against Seneca on Sept. 26 in Gravette, the Lady Lions started off slowly and lost the first set, 25-14, but came back to win the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22 for the 3-1 nonconfere­nce win.

Freshman Piper Batie led her teammates with 33 attacks and 16 kills in the match. Sophomore Ella Pinches had 29 and six, and junior Belen Nelson had 19 and seven. Nelson also blocked six at the net.

Freshman Laney Chilton had 20 digs. Batie had 14 and Pinches 13 in the match. Chilton also received 38 serves for the Lady Lions.

In conference play at Ozark on Sept. 27, the Lady Lions took the first two sets by a score of 25-18 but then dropped the third set, 25-21, before coming back and winning the fourth, 25-16, for the win.

In conference play at Shiloh Christian on Thursday, the Gravette girls lost in three straight sets, 2523, 25-17 and 25-12.

Individual stats were not yet available for the last two matches at press time on Monday.
