DECATUR — The Lavaca Lady Golden Arrows traveled to Decatur on Sept. 29 to take on the Lady Bulldogs at Peterson-Owens Fieldhouse for the final regular season meeting of 2022 between these two teams.

The two teams’ first clash came Sept. 1 when the Lady Bulldogs took on Lavaca at the Golden Arrow gym. In that match, the Golden Arrows prevailed, taking the conference contest in three sets. The Sept. 29 match eventually ended much the same way.

Up first was the young junior high B team which in the earlier match in Lavaca brought home the match victory in two sets. This time fortune favored the Golden Arrows as they took both sets, 25-17, 259, for the match.

A similar fate faced the junior high A team as it mirrored the Sept. 1 match by winning the first set and losing the second set and finally the tiebreaker. Decatur came out on top in the first set, 25-13, but the second set went to Lavaca, 25-20, setting up the second tiebreaker. In that set, both teams played well, setting up several long volleys which thrilled both Lavaca and Decatur fans. It came down to the Lady Golden Arrows getting three straight points and taking the match victory, 15-12.

The final match of the night was the varsity contest. The Lady Bulldogs faced an uphill fight against one of the strongest volleyball programs in the 2A conference.

At times, the Lady Bulldogs worked together very well, forcing Lavaca to earn every point. At other times, the team made simple mistakes that, in the end, cost the Decatur Lady Bulldogs the match. Lavaca claimed the conference victory, 25-11, 25-12 and 25-17.

The Decatur Lady Bulldogs returned to Peterson-Owens Fieldhouse on Oct. 4 for the final home game of the 2022 season when the team took on the Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders (after press deadlines).
