Pioneers topple Tigers in big homecoming win

GENTRY — The Pioneers continued their winning season on Friday with a 48-8 win over the visiting Green Forest Tigers at Gentry’s homecoming in Pioneer Stadium.

Gentry dominated the opening quarter, shutting down Green Forest and scoring four touchdowns for a 27-0 score before the first buzzer.

The Eagles scored a TD in the second quarter and a two-point conversion, but the Pioneers increased their lead with another pair of touchdowns to make the halftime score 41-8.

The Pioneers capped off their scoring with another TD and point after in the third for the 48-8 win.

The Pioneers scored three rushing and three passing TDs, with one TD scored on an intercepti­on by Dillon Owens.

Chris Bell carried in two TDs, and Ty Hays one. Touchdown passes were caught by Braedon Warren, Addi Taylor and Dillon Owens.

They had 269 rushing yards in the game and another 160 through the air.

Jared James had a big night with six tackles and another six assists in the game.

The Pioneers, now 6-0, travel to Ozark on Friday. The kickoff is at 7 p.m.
