BENTONVILLE — With only two weeks left in the regular volleyball season, the three teams that make up the Decatur Lady Bulldog volleyball program began the week with a road trip to Bentonville to take on conference opponent Founders Academy on Oct. 3. Fate favored the Lady Bulldogs as the teams walked away with three victories to start the week off right.

As usual, the Lady Bulldog junior high B was up first. The young players took command of the set early, pulling out in front by 10. But the Lady Spartans pulled it together and made a run on Decatur’s lead. The Lady Bulldogs caught their second wind and again pulled away from Founders Academy, taking the first set 25-17. The B team took the second set, 25-11, to win the match in two sets.

The Decatur junior high A team made easy work of its match, winning in two sets, 25-5, 25-2, to continue its winning streak going into the 2A -Region 1 junior high district tournament on Oct. 17.

The final contest of the night pitted the Lady Bulldogs against the Lady Spartans in a conference contest. In the first set, the Lady Spartans made the Lady Bulldogs earn every point as Founders Academy kept the score close until Decatur started a run, taking the first set 25-20.

Founders Academy continued to make Decatur work for every point but, in the end, it was the Lady Bulldogs who took the two remaining sets, 25-10, 2516, to claim the conference victory.
