Gentry’s fall cleanup set

Gentry’s household fall cleanup is set for Oct. 2223 in the city park at 410 W. Main Street, with household hazardous materials cleanup on Saturday only, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items may be brought to the park and placed in the dumpsters provided by the city until 4 p.m. on Sunday or until the dumpsters are full. In addition, county residents may bring scrap metal, up to four tires and two pieces of household electronic­s (items with circuit boards). The city will also be giving away trees provided by the Walton Family Foundation at the event while supplies last.

Lions Club crockpot festival

The Gravette Lions Club will host a crockpot festival Saturday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church, 301 First Avenue S.W. in Gravette. The cost will be $5 a bowl for a variety of soups and stews or spaghetti. Cornbread, a drink and dessert are included, and the fixin’s for Reuben sandwiches will also be available. Come out and enjoy a hearty, low-cost meal while helping the Lions raise funds for their vision programs and other community projects.

NAGS to meet Oct. 24

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogic­al Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, at the Bentonvill­e Public Library, 405 South Main Street in Bentonvill­e. Bob Shewmake will share how DNA evidence helped him determine “That’s Not My Grandfathe­r Anymore.” The public is welcome.

Friends of Library book sales

Friends of the Gravette Public Library are holding book sales from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Friends book sale room, 407 Charlotte Street S.E. (old library building). Enter through the east door. The next sale will be this Saturday, Oct. 22. It’s not too early to come select books for all the readers on your Christmas list.

Mad Hatter tea party

The annual Mad Hatter tea party will be held at the First Christian Church in Gravette from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30. The public is invited to come and enjoy the fun and help knit hats for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Guests are asked to wear a fun hat. No experience is required. Looms and yarn will be provided.

Coffee with city officials

The city of Gravette will host “Coffee with Elected Officials” in the city council chambers at 202 Main Street N.E. monthly in the hour prior to the first city council meeting of the month. Guests are invited to stop by for a cup of coffee and to meet and chat with Gravette’s elected officials, including the mayor, city council members and the city attorney. Coffee with Elected Officials sessions will be held on Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Decatur Community Trunk or Treat

Decatur will host its second annual Community Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Park in Decatur. The event is free to the public. Participan­ts in this year’s event can start setting up their decoration­s and trunk at 5 p.m. Two new events will be implemente­d at this year’s Trunk or Treat event, including the best-decorated trunk and the best costume contests. Gentry Trick or Treat on Main

Gentry’s Trick or Treat on Main Street event is set for Monday, Oct. 31, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Local businesses will be passing out treats to trickor-treaters at the annual event sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce.

Gravette Trick or Treat on Main

Gravette’s third annual Trick or Treat on Main will be held Monday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Main Street in Gravette. Local businesses and organizati­ons will line both sides of the first two blocks of Main Street and hand out candy and treats to trickor-treaters. Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event. Guests are encouraged to come in costume. Businesses or organizati­ons interested in handing out candy can sign up at www. GravetteAR.com under the “Events” tab.

Gentry Christmas Parade set Dec. 10

Gentry’s annual Christmas Parade is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, on Main Street in downtown Gentry. The lineup will be at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Miracles on Main Street.” The parade is sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce.

Kiwanis meetings

Meetings of the Gravette Kiwanis Club are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month in the cafeteria at Ozarks Community Hospital and are open to the public. The next meeting will be held Friday, Oct. 21, with Sheriff Shawn Holloway and justices of the peace Dustin Todd and Joe Ballenger as speakers. They will be discussing the sales tax initiative and possible jail expansion. Members are asked to park in the back parking lot and enter through the back door. Breakfast will be provided.

Chamber of Commerce meetings

Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce meets the third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at 109 Main Street S.E. in

Gravette. Members and guests are asked to arrive at 11:15. Meetings include lunch and are open to the public. Call the chamber at 479-787-8998 for more informatio­n.

Gravette Farmers Market

The Gravette Farmers Market is open each Saturday in Old Town Park. Locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, eggs, baked goods, honey, jams and jellies, farmraised beef and pork products, woodcrafts and other crafts are available. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the summer. Anyone interested in setting up a booth should contact Beth Patton, market manager, at 479-787-3313.

Lions Club meetings

Meetings of the Gravette Lions Club are held at 12:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Lunch is available. Visitors are always welcome.
