Lady Bulldog Lilly Schopper takes second place in cross-country meet

WESTSIDE — The Decatur junior and senior high school Bulldog and Lady Bulldog cross-country teams traveled a short distance to Northwest Arkansas Community College in Rogers to compete in the 1A-2A junior high/senior high school regional cross-country championsh­ip meet on Oct. 26.

The team competed in three races, including the high school 5K with 53 runners competing, the junior high boys’ two-mile race with a total of 61 runners, and the junior high girls’ two-mile run with 38 competitor­s.

In the senior high 5K, Decatur had three runners in the event. In the junior high boys’ two-mile, the Bulldogs had one entry, and in the girls’ two-mile, the Lady Bulldogs had three runners.

Here are the results for the Decatur participan­ts:

5K HS Boys — 23 Jayden Gozalez — 21:01.52; 25 Brian Ruiz — 21:23.06; 45 Anthony Hernandez — 25:09.71.

2 Mile Junior High Boys — 23 William Boone — 13:58.01.

2 Mile Junior High Girls — 2 Lillian Schopper — 13:41.43, 18 Sydnie Brooks — 17:28.77, 33 Giselle Medel — 21:16.59.
