Local runners compete in district meet, earn medals

GENTRY — Gentry sophomore Morgan Polina placed 10th and medaled in the 500-meter run at the Huntsville District 4-A meet on Oct. 26 with a time of 23:40.03. She also achieved a new personal record.

Gentry’s Jakob Cox placed 20th at the meet with a time of 20:04.35.

Gravette Runners

Gravette runners Wesley Wilson and James Orndorff placed fourth and fifth in the run with times of 17:33.80 and 17:45.52, respective­ly. Holden Betz finished 15th with a time of 19:26.99. Gabriel Briggs finished 19th with a time of 20:03.15.

Gravette junior Julia Whorton finished first in the girls’ race with a time of 20:32.70. She was followed by Gravette runners Keira Ralph in fifth (21:53.55), Anna Kedrowski in sixth (23:13.72), and Litzy Garcia in seventh (23:36.66). Audrey Houghton finished in 11th with a time of 23:40.49.

Local runners will travel to the state competitio­n on Friday, Nov. 4.
