Dennis Allyn Remboldt
Dennis Allyn Remboldt, 94, died peacefully on Feb. 7, 2023, with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 27, 1928, to Ernest Jay Remboldt and Elsie Ann Knoll Remboldt in Gackle, North Dakota. He grew up and graduated from high school in Gackle. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-49 and in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 19521980 when he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He earned a civil engineering degree from North Dakota State University in 1953 and later a P.E. in structural engineering at the University of Kansas. He worked as a structural engineer for state and federal highway administrations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois and Kansas. He retired from the Federal Highway Administration, Kansas Division, in Topeka in 1984 and moved to Bella Vista, where he could play golf to his heart’s content.
In 1950, Dennis married Marion Maxine Noteboom, with whom he had 10 children, Jo Remboldt, Kathy Karlsson (Lennart), Mike Remboldt (Jan), Jeff Remboldt, Mark Remboldt (Christina), Mary R. Gage (David), Tom Remboldt (Katherine), Carmen Lewis (Kent), Dan Remboldt (Karen), and Charles Remboldt (Monicka). They later divorced. He was married to Holly Marrs until her death in 1994. In 1996, he married Angie Domogalla and became stepfather to her three children, Richard Madison (Darren), Roxanna Fisher (Andy), and Patrick Karpinski. Dennis and Angie’s 13 children blessed them with 29 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was an active and involved member of his community all his life. He was the leader of Boy Scout troops for many years, helping his sons achieve Eagle Scout and leading backpacking trips. He served on the Bella Vista Water Resources Board and volunteered as a tax assistant for the senior citizen center. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, serving as a volunteer and member of the choir.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista. Interment will be in July at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.
