JULY 21-AUG. 7: Miss Saigon
The immersive theater company known for its daring outdoor performances is producing its most ambitious one yet. Based on "Madame Butterfly," a heartbreaking opera by Giacomo Puccini, "Miss Saigon" is a tragic tale of love between an American GI and a Vietnamese barmade set during the grisly Vietnam War. This is the first time a professional theater company is performing this play in Atlanta. Director Brian Clowdus is setting the bar sky-high with a live landing of a huey helicopter actually flown in the Vietnam War. Tickets: $30-$35. 770.463.1110, www.serenbeplayhouse.com
