BOS­TON DRAGON BOAT FES­TI­VAL

Get a les­son in Asian her­itage at this event that hon­ors a 2,000-year-old tra­di­tion. Forty teams com­pete, rac­ing along the Charles River in 39-foot, Hong Kong-style ves­sels. Satur­day sees tri­als from MIT Boathouse, but Sun­day holds fi­nal heats and a cul­tural fes­ti­val boast­ing Asian food, crafts, clas­si­cal mu­sic and dance, Ja­panese taiko drum­ming, mar­tial arts and more.

BOS­TON PRIDE WEEK

Cel­e­brate di­ver­sity at the big­gest gay-friendly party in town. Fes­tiv­i­ties take place over 10 days, kick­ing off with a flag-rais­ing cer­e­mony at City Hall Plaza, fol­lowed by a fam­ily-friendly Pride Day at Faneuil Hall, the sig­na­ture Pride Pa­rade and Fes­ti­val, block par­ties, pageants, and more.
