90 MINUTES IN: Ravenele Bridge
The Ravenel Bridge is a defining fixture of Charleston’s skyline. Spend a morning getting a close-up look at the bridge and spectacular views of the city. Drive across Ravenel Bridge, exit on West Coleman Boulevard and follow the signs to Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. You can walk the entire 2.7-mile span or stop midway at the overlook for views of the Charleston peninsula and the USS Yorktown. If you’d rather not walk across the bridge, stroll down the Mount Pleasant Pier at the Waterfront Park for a different view as the cable stay bridge spans above you. Stop into the Town of Mount Pleasant Visitor Center or the River Watch Cafe and Gift Shop. For lunch, head to Shem Creek where you can watch fishing boats as you eat fresh seafood at one of the several restaurants that line the water. Spend the afternoon at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, where you can tour the impressive USS Yorktown, a World War II aircraft carrier. Take in more great views from the flight deck.
