PHOENIX ZOO

Where Phoenix - - WHERE NOW -

The nonprofit Phoenix Zoo is home to more than 1,400 animals, including endangered and threatened species—see elephants, lions, jaguars, lemurs, giraffes, bighorn sheep and more. At Monkey Village—the only walk-through exhibit of its kind in the United States—watch squirrel monkeys play as you wander through the open exhibit. Next, head over to Red Barn, where you can pet and brush goats. Kids who need to cool off can stop by the splash pad and water play areas. Other zoo experiences include a 4- D square feet (with more than 30,000 animals!)—make sure to look up. Massive aquatic orbs suspended from the lobby ceiling are filled with schools of fish. And that’s just the beginning—the aquarium features everything from fish to sharks and sea lions to penguins. There is also a 3-D theater, rotating carousel theater and a touch pool. And, a giant submerged escalator allows guests to descend deep into the “ocean” while surrounded by thousands of sea creatures. Those who want to get into the water for a more up-close experience can purchase the SeaTREK underwater ocean walking activity. And make sure to check out the bathrooms in the lobby—the windows above the sinks let you watch sharks swim by! 9500 E.
