Breweries to Visit

Anchor Brewing Co.

Anchor’s Potrero Hill facility offers daily tours, which include a brief history of the signature beer and brewing process. The brewery is also home to Anchor Distilling Company, which offers one-hour tasting experiences.

ThirstyBear Organic Brewery

This is the city’s oldest brewery-restaurant and its first and only CCOF certified organic brewery. With a selfdescribed “Germaninfluenced West Coast style of brewing,” ThirstyBear specializes in pilsners, IPAs, stouts, Belgian-inspired ales, cask conditional ales, session beers and barrel-aged brews.

Barrel Head Brewhouse

The first thing you’ll notice walking into this modern brewpub is the row of bar taps welded onto the top of a giant, World War II-era torpedo. Barrel Head offers 30 rotating microbrews on tap and eight house-brewed drafts, as well as a selection of rare bottles. The menu also features cocktails—some containing beer—and a build-yourown-Manhattan menu.
