WhereTraveler San Francisco
If you want to experience San Francisco’s vibrant hospitality and incredible display of creativity, then December is the month to visit. The city is ablaze with colorful holiday lights, lush Christmas trees, fl ickering menorahs, and festive decorations. It is the one time of year that San Francisco looks even more magical at night than during the day. While you’re in the city, make sure to take advantage of the festivities, including ice-skating at the many ice rinks around town, take in a holiday light tour and visit the cable car museum for a glimpse of the past. If you get a chance to head out of San Francisco, make sure to read Jessie Fetterling’s article about the many quaint towns around the Bay and their holiday traditions on page 14. One of my favorites is Napa Valley Wine Train’s Santa Train—the best of both worlds for the kiddos and the grown-ups! Union Square has so much going on, and you can read all about it in Laurie Jo Miller Farr’s write up on page 12. Our esteemed concierge Mariah Zuefle from the St. Regis fills us in on her favorite holiday traditions, places to visits and unique San Francisco gifts. Make sure to tag your photos with # wheretraveler for your chance to be published nationally. I’m sure you’re going to have a fabulous time, we are so delighted you came to visit. Happy Holiday!
