Toto Wellness Toilet

Leave it to Japanese manufacturer Toto to produce the concept “smart toilet” of the future. Toto says it uses multiple sensors to scan a person’s body and their “key outputs” each time they sit on the throne. It then analyzes their waste for signs of disease and suggests dietary changes through a mobile app—“eat more salmon and avocado.” Sure, you can strap on wearable sensors to glean health insights in other, less invasive ways, but Toto says adding AI to a toilet makes more sense, because you use it every day whether you’re thinking about it or not. The Wellness Toilet will ship to consumers sometime in the next several years, and yes, it’s likely to be expensive. $TBD
