My Guardian Angel

When Woman’s World reader, Betty Whitworth of Leitchfield, Kentucky, returned to college, she prayed for help in passing a test—and the angels answered! She writes:

-

When I was 30, I decided to return to college for my teacher certification. Being older than the other students, I was a bit nervous. Could I learn new things?

Math was my biggest challenge. Luckily, the college had a tutor lab, and I spent every free moment there. Still, I struggled through the semester. The day of my fi nal exam, I was a wreck. If I didn’t pass the course, I wouldn’t get my certification.

As I was driving to campus on the day of the math exam, I asked God to help me remember everything I’d studied.

“Please, send your angels to help me,” I pleaded.

Suddenly, I felt a warm hand touch my shoulder.

“Peace,” a soft voice whispered in my ear.

Stunned, I turned my head and saw a white light glowing beside me.

Was I dreaming? I wondered, and pulled over. No, the glow was still there! And that’s when I realized that God had answered my prayer and sent me an angel.

I blinked back tears, but they spilled over and ran down my cheeks.

I sat for a few minutes to compose myself, then continued my journey. When I arrived at the college, I could still feel the warmth of the angel’s touch on my shoulder!

And amazingly, when I began the test, the material did not look as foreign to me as it had before. I was able to solve every math problem.

When I walked out of the classroom, I could no longer feel the hand on my shoulder. But I had no fear of having failed the test. Quite the opposite: I felt confident that I’d passed.

A few days later, I received word that I had passed with flying colors. I received my teaching certificate.

I went on to teach language arts to seventh- and eighthgrade students for more than 22 years.

Many times during my career, I thought about the angel who helped make my dream of becoming a teacher come true.

Even now, I know that she is with me, and if I close my eyes, I can still feel the warmth of her hand on my shoulder.

“Betty’s guardian angel is definitely still with her!” says Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “Her angel knew how many students Betty could help, so the angel made sure that Betty would be calm enough to pass her exam.

“The angels always help ‘Earth angels’—teachers, nurses, social workers, etc.— so that they can go on to help more people.

Our angels know us so well and appear in whichever form will be most helpful to us. They knew that the glowing light and gentle touch on her shoulder were the best way to ease Betty’s fears.

“The angels say: ‘ When you need to know that we are with you, just ask, and we will send you comforting signs.’ ”

“I could feel the angel’s touch as I took my final exam,” Betty says
