Disney scored yet another hit with the release of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey in 1993. The endearing live-action adventure movie about two dogs and a cat who travel thousands of miles to be reunited with their family was voiced by Michael J. Fox (as Chance, the plucky American bulldog narrator), Sally Field (as Sassy, a smart-mouthed Himalayan cat) and Don Ameche (as Shadow, the wise golden retriever)!

Tony-award winning actor Nathan Lane was born Joseph Lane in 1956 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Lane—whose memorable roles include Timon the meerkat in The Lion King, Albert in The Birdcage and Max Bialystock in the Broadway musical The Producers— took his stage name from the character Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls!

Groundhog Day was held for the first time in the United States in 1887, at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawn­ey, Pennsylvan­ia. The tradition originated in Germany, where a hedgehog was employed each year to predict the next six weeks of weather on Candlemas Day, the day between the winter solstice and spring equinox!

Newspaper heiress Patty Hearst was kidnapped by an American terrorist group, the Symbionese Liberation Army, in 1974. Hearst spent more than 19 months with her captors before being caught by the FBI, and then sent to prison for aiding and abetting them in several bank robberies!

Barbra Streisand started a four-week run at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart in 1974, with the theme from the film The Way We Were, which co-starred Streisand and Robert Redford. The single went on to win an Oscar and a Grammy for Song of the Year!
