Banish fatigue with peppermint!

When the stimulatin­g scent of peppermint hits your brain, it kicks off an hours-long energy rush, University of Cincinnati researcher­s say. Turns out, the odor molecule behind peppermint’s bite, menthol, immediatel­y revs alertness and keeps it high for hours. Also, try taking a few whiffs before doing chores or exercising: Researcher Bryan Raudenbush, PH.D., says the scent increases strength and stamina, helping you sustain physical activity longer.

✤ Tip: Put a drop of peppermint oil (sold over-the-counter in pharmacies and health-food stores) on each wrist to inhale while you exercise or do any other physically challengin­g task.
