Woman's World

Angel of light

When Woman’s World reader, Debra Swanson, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, asked the angels to send her a sign from her mother, they didn’t disappoint her! She writes:

-

When my father was in hospice care, a social worker asked my sister and me if we could bring our dad’s living will and some other important documents needed for his records.

Dad had never spoken to either of us about his fi nal arrangements, and he’d taken care of everything when we’d lost Mom five years earlier.

With Dad in no condition to ask, my sister and I headed to his house—the home where we had grown up—and searched every drawer, closet and fi le cabinet for the various forms, but came up empty-handed.

Finally, in frustration, I went into our parents’ bedroom and called out to the angels. “If my mom can hear me, please ask her to help us find those papers!”

“The lamp lit up all on its own, and I knew Mom was with me,” Debra marvels

As soon as I’d fi nished speaking, the little brass “touch” lamp sitting on the nightstand that had belonged to my mother lit up on its own!

A chill ran down my spine as I realized this was my sign. I went over to the nightstand and found a metal box under the table. I opened it, and the paperwork was in there!

Dad passed away a few days later, and my sister and I were tasked with cleaning out the house that held a lifetime of memories. When we got to the lamp, I asked my sister if she would mind if I kept it.

She agreed, and I took the lamp home and placed it in our sunroom, my favorite place to relax and unwind.

A few weeks later, after attending Easter services, I brought flowers to my parents’ grave. When I got home, I sat in the sunroom and sent my sister a text message, telling her I had gone to the cemetery and that I thought Mom would have liked the flowers. As I hit “send,” Mom’s little brass lamp lit up— all on its own. “Mom, you’re here!” I smiled. My heart filled with joy. The angels were letting me know that my mother was with me and that she liked the flowers.

The lamp that Mom loved so much continues to comfort me. When I’m troubled about something, or going through a difficult time, I’ll sit in my sunroom near the little brass lamp.

“Mom, are you there?” I ask. And very often the lamp will light up, and I know she is watching over me, like a guardian angel.

“Debra’s mother sure is watching over her, and literally lighting up her life from Heaven!” says Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “How like the angels to send such a clear sign as illuminating an heirloom lamp!

“Very often, our loved ones in Heaven will work with the angels to send us a loving message via lights that are unexplainable by Earthly logic, but which make perfect sense with Heavenly logic! I’m so happy that Debra noticed and understood the signifi cance of the lamp turning on!

“When we ask for Heaven’s help in locating an item, such as her father’s documents, it’s important to follow the clues they send to us. If Debra hadn’t trusted the lamp as a sign, she wouldn’t have found her father’s paperwork and mistakenly believed that her prayers for help weren’t answered. It’s all about us noticing and following our Heavenly signs.

“The angels can and will do anything to comfort our grieving hearts. So, when you ask for a sign from a loved one, be open to the creative ways in which your prayer will be answered.

“The angels say: ‘We are messengers of love who are charged with the sacred honor of bringing you signs of eternal love.’ ”
